With over 70 kilometres of stunning sun drenched beaches to choose from, the Gold Coast has beaches to meet the needs of everyone.
The Gold Coast offers the best selection of surfing beaches in the world for beginners to experienced surfers.
The venue for major international surfing tournaments, Burleigh beach and Snapper Rocks both offer great surf, while Duranbah, Narrowneck, Coolangatta, Kirra and The Spit also provide excellent conditions for some serious surfing.
The soft rolling waves of Surfers Paradise beach are perfect for the beginner surfer, as is Greenmount beach and Currumbin Alley.
Most Gold Coast beaches are great for a dip, but the gentlest beaches ideal for a relaxing swim, include Burleigh, Currumbin, North Kirra, Narrowneck and Greenmount beaches at the calmer southern end of the Gold Coast.
Popular still-water swimming spots include Tallebudgera Creek, Currumbin rock pools, and Evandale and Harley Park swimming lagoons.
Kurrawa and Broadbeach feature excellent parklands, plenty of space for family barbecues, great playground facilities and nearby dining and shopping.
Currumbin beach offer impressive views in all directions and the gentle surf and rock pools make it popular with young families.
Tugun is an open beach with fantastic BBQ and picnic areas, making it a great beach for families, and Narrowneck beach with McIntosh Park directly opposite is another family favourite.
If you can drag yourself away from the ever-buzzing Surfers Paradise scene, enjoy one of the Gold Coast's best walks from Surfers Paradise north to cosmopolitan Main Beach, trek south to trendy, laid-back Broadbeach, or head even further south to enjoy the bistros and cafes along the Coolangatta beach esplanade, and the spectacular views from Point Danger.
Regular beachfront art & craft markets are held at both Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
