6 reasons to holiday on the Gold Coast in spring

Let's face it - most people think of summer when planning a trip to the Gold Coast. While summer often steals the spotlight, spring offers milder weather, fewer crowds, great local events, and vibrant natural beauty. Whether you're into outdoor adventures or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, spring provides a refreshing alternative that just might become your new favourite time to holiday.

Check out our top 6 reasons why you should holiday on the Gold Coast this spring.

Take advantage of free events

Some of the Gold Coast’s best events are held in spring. Oh, and did we mention, they’re FREE? This year, SWELL Sculpture Festival is back in Currumbin for its 22nd year. Experience Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition plus live music, comedy, masterclasses, and artist talks over 10 days.

For our country music lovers, you won’t want to miss Groundwater Country Music Festival in October. This free festival takes place in Broadbeach over 3 days and features some of Australia’s best country acts.

If you’re still wanting more, there are some epic ticketed events also happening this spring. Check out Crafted Beer Festival, Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, and more here.

Enjoy stunning weather

Longer days, warmer temperatures, and plenty of sunshine. That’s what you can expect during the spring! This season is perfect for relaxing on the beach, swimming in our creeks, taking the boat out, and hiking through the hinterland – all without sweating through your clothes.

To make the most of the spring weather, we recommend hiking through Burleigh Head National Park and ending with a dip in Tallebudgera Creek. Or go for a stroll or ride down the Oceanway beach path, stopping along the way for a coffee and a treat.

Take a dip in the rock pools

On the topic of weather, make the most if those balmy days and head out to one of our rock pools. It's tough to find a spot to lay a towel in the summer months, so spring is the perfect time to enjoy the freshwater swimming holes without the crowds!

Currumbin Valley is home to some of our favourite rock pools and is only a short drive from our southern tourist parks. Check out Cougal Cascades and the Currumbin Rock Pools during your stay.

Beat the heat and crowds at our theme parks

Let’s be honest, no one likes waiting in lines! Beat the summer rush (and the heat) and visit our theme parks this spring. Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline-pumping roller coaster or you prefer to cruise down the lazy river, there’s an adventure for everyone at our iconic parks and attractions.

There's so much to experience beyond the big theme parks. From wildlife sanctuaries, parasailing tours, arcades and hinterland experiences, explore all Gold Coast attractions here.

Explore the arts and culture scene

Immerse yourself in the growing arts and culture scene of the Gold Coast. Start by visiting HOTA, a state-of-the-art destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. After touring the art gallery, spend some time in the precinct by walking around Evandale Lake or having a picnic on the lawn.

Next, visit Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Burleigh Heads. Discover the stories and traditional life of the Yugambeh language speaking people as you explore the "Dreaming Mountain" of Burleigh Head National Park. Their family-friendly guided tours offer a deeper understanding of the land’s significance to the Yugambeh language speaking people.

Dine with a view

Drinks with a beach view? Say less! The Gold Coast is stacked with restaurants and bars boasting epic views of our beaches and city skyline. From family-friendly surf clubs to high-end seasonal dining, there’s something for all types of travellers.

Take advantage of more daylight hours and head to The Tropic at Burleigh Pavilion for drinks on the terrace. Enjoy a fresh Mediterranean and modern Australian menu while taking in the views of Burleigh Beach and the Gold Coast skyline.

If you’re staying at Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park, check out Tallebudgera Surf Club across the road for a delicious pub feed. With ocean views, a family-friendly atmosphere, and nightly specials for members and visitors, this place is a must-visit during your spring holiday.
