Our favourite activities for a rainy day on the Gold Coast

We know you love visiting the Gold Coast for our beautiful beaches and sunshine. However, on the odd chance that it rains during your holiday, there are plenty of other ways to experience the Gold Coast and explore all that our amazing city has to offer.

We’ve put together a list of our favourite rainy-day activities near our parks that are sure to please the whole family!

Visit the Hinterland

Hike through the rainforest in its truest form! Experience the waterfalls in all their glory and the beautiful national parks surrounding our tourist parks. Choose from Tambourine Mountain, Springbrook and Lamington National Parks to experience the green behind the gold.

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre

Immerse yourself in the culture of the Gold Coast’s First Nations people at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Learn about the Yugambeh speaking people as you explore the art gallery and informative boardwalk story board display. If the weather permits, embark on a guided walk around Jellurgal Mountain and learn about the Aboriginal history and culture of the Gold Coast.

Home of the Arts

Centrally located just across from Surfers Paradise, Home of the Arts is a first-class destination where art, entertainment, culture, and lifestyle meet. Walk through the art gallery, dine at the rooftop bar, or attend a workshop all within the HOTA precinct. HOTA also offers activities for kids and school holiday workshops.

Hijinx Hotel

Visit the Hijinx Hotel for an interactive gaming experience like no other. Consisting of Challenge rooms, Holey Moley mini golf, ten pin bowling and an extensive arcade all under one roof, Hijinx Hotel is guaranteed fun for everyone.

Don’t feel like venturing outside the park? Not to worry. Our parks offer fun activity programs during the holiday periods. Guests of all ages can participate in arts and craft sessions, gardening and environmental workshops, tie dye and more. If you’re staying with us in the off-season, take advantage of the rec rooms and undercover spaces for a range of games.
