Drop anchor at South Stradbroke Island and take full advantage of the spectacular natural surrounds at Currigee Campgrounds. We’re not far from civilisation but it feels like you’re a million miles away. You won’t want to leave and you’ll definitely want to come back!
Walk along pristine beaches with barely a soul insight. Explore bush tracks through unspoilt bushland. Snorkel, fish or swim on the protected side of the island that looks out over the Broadwater, or surf in uncrowded waves on the ocean side. Spend evenings under the stars, gathered around a camp fire. Enjoy spectacular sunsets and sunrises from the dunes and watch hump back whales breach and blow on their annual migration past South Stradbroke Island.
These campgrounds are only accessible by boat so you’ll need to come prepared, but the camp office and kiosk sells basic camping essentials plus ice, firewood and drinking water. Local boat hire, charter or water taxi makes camping on South Stradbroke Island a very viable option even if you don’t have your own boat.
North Currigee Campground is located around a protected inlet, ideal for mooring boats and a pontoon is available to make loading and unloading more convenient. While camping here is a pleasantly ‘back to basics’ experience, the shaded, waterfront tent sites are a huge draw card. A sheltered picnic area, toilets and hot showers to wash off the salt and sand provide simple creature comforts. Firewood, ice and drinking water is delivered daily.
