If you’re dreaming up the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion, plan a stay with us and create memories that last a lifetime. When Suz Temperley and Lucas Watson were planning their twin boys’ 8th birthday party, the usual options weren’t ticking the boxes. Indoor play centres get expensive once you’ve paid for food and admission for dozens of guests. Plus the parents are stuck hanging around while the kids play… Instead they had the inspired idea of a weekend celebration at Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park.

The family are Gold Coast residents but thought a ‘staycation’ would be perfect. And the boys, Riley and Kallan, were thrilled with the plan. “It was easy and close to home and we knew it would be a fun way for the boys to spend their birthday.” says Suz. “We also loved the fact that extended family could stay the night and we could enjoy some quality time with them rather than just a few hours during the day. We thought it would be good fun for young and old alike.” They were right! The family stayed in a beachside cabin which was an ideal location to set up their weekend celebration. Tallebudgera Creek is one of the most popular swimming spots on the Gold Coast and their beachside cabin was only a stone’s throw from the sparkling water. Plus, there was enough room to accommodate overnight stays for family visiting from Brisbane and Northern NSW. On the big day, local friends arrived with beach toys, eskis and presents for the birthday boys. It was very casual and unstructured, which was part of the charm. Suz says it was a wonderfully low maintenance birthday celebration. Riley, Kallan and their friends had freedom to run and play on the shores of the creek. The adults could relax and chat without having to hover, since they could supervise from the deck of the cabin.

“It was so easy. I don’t enjoy the noise and stress of typical kids parties,” says the hostess, echoing the feelings of parents everywhere. “This was like a relaxing day at the beach but we didn’t have to pack up and go home at the end. The family and cousins enjoying time together in such a beautiful location made it an unforgettable memory for us. Overall I think it is the perfect Australian party for adults and kids alike. I wouldn’t mind it for my birthday too!” After their party on Saturday, family members stayed for board games and pizza on Saturday night and on Sunday, after a slow start and coffee in the sunshine while the boys swam, they took a short walk to Tallebudgera Surf Club for a leisurely lunch. Everything they needed for a relaxing weekend was conveniently close. “It was a wonderful memory for my boys, sharing the day with their friends,” says Suz. “We really appreciated the whole day and the adults had just as much fun.” As for the boys, they still rave about their Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park birthday party. They loved the freedom of playing with their friends in the creek and staying overnight was a special experience. They’re already asking if they can do it all over again for their 9th birthday! A small park and expensive, but well kept, the midgies and mosquitoes are a problem. It is pet friendly and does have a tavern and shops over the road as...
